Where to stay in Bangkok for Muay Thai training

Updated October 19, 2026

The short answer

Stay as close to your gym as you can, and near a BTS Skytrain station. For most visitors that means Sukhumvit, around Phrom Phong or Asok: good hotels, food, malls, and fast trains to the rest of the city. Bangkok traffic is heavy, so a short walk to training saves you time every day.

Why Sukhumvit

  • The BTS Skytrain runs along Sukhumvit Road, above the traffic.
  • Phrom Phong has the EmQuartier, Emporium, and EmSphere malls, Benjasiri Park, and lots of restaurants.
  • Many Muay Thai gyms are in or near Sukhumvit, including Migaku and YOKKAO.
  • The airport train and taxis reach Sukhumvit easily.

What to look for in a hotel

  • Walking distance to your gym.
  • A pool to cool down after training.
  • A good breakfast (you will be hungry).
  • Laundry service: you will wash training clothes every day.
  • A gym, if you want extra strength work.

Where we stay

Our retreat stays at the SKYVIEW Hotel Bangkok on Sukhumvit Soi 24, a 5-star hotel right next door to Migaku, our gym. It has an 8th-floor infinity pool, a 32nd-floor rooftop bar, a 24-hour gym, and breakfast every morning. Phrom Phong BTS is about 3 minutes on foot. See the hotel.

Questions

Is Sukhumvit a good area for a first trip to Bangkok?

Yes. It is central, easy to get around by BTS, and full of food, malls, and hotels at every price.

How far are the fight stadiums from Sukhumvit?

Rajadamnern is in the old city and Lumpinee is in north Bangkok. Both are a Grab or taxi ride. Plan on traffic in the evening.
